Located at the base
of the Himalayas, Nepal is regarded as one of the foremost trekking
destinations for seasoned as well as novice trekkers. So, this season if you
are looking to take a novel approach to your holidays and explore the unique
landscapes of the country, these might just be the destinations you are looking
for; paradises for a wonderful trekking in Nepal.
-The Annapurna Region: This
region is very popular among trekkers, mainly because of the diverse options it
offers to the travelers. There are three major trekking routes in the region
namely:
·
The Jomsom Trek to Jomsom and Muktinath.
·
The Annapurna Sanctuary Route to Annapurna Base Camp.
·
The Annapurna Circuit.
There are also other minor
trials, such as The Annapurna Panorama Trek taking around 10 days, which are
more suited to the novice hikers. As the routes here traverse through the
Annapurna Conservation Area, they offer a rich view of the floral and faunal
diversity of the region. And due to the presence of settlements throughout the
region, you can experience the traditional cultures and lifestyles of the
native population.
-Upper
Mustang: Once an independent kingdom, Mustang is one of the premier
destinations for both domestic and foreign visitors. The region is highly
regulated and foreign visitors have only been allowed from the year 1992 AD.
Because of this the region remains somewhat isolated and the population has a
unique cultural identity, influenced by both Tibet and Nepal. The typical Upper Mustang Trek takes about 19 days and includes visits to
the remains of the ancient Lo kingdom and Muktinath.
-The
Everest Region: Maybe the most recognized region of the country due to the
presence of Mount Everest, this region mainly attracts mountaineers, about a
thousand each year attempt to scale the treacherous mountaintop each year. Even
if you do not intend to scale Mount Everest, trekkers may attempt the Everest Base Camp Trek 17 days. However,
this one may not be for casual trekkers. The path traverses the extreme
landscape and travelers will also be faced with extreme weather conditions, and
reaches heights of 5180 meters at Kalapatthar. But for all the ordeals you face
the payoff is even greater including the view of Dudh Koshi River Valley,
highland monasteries, glacial walk over the Khumbu glacier, and the view of the
Southern face of the Everest from Kalapatthar.
So
with the options it has to offer a trekking enthusiast, Nepal just may be the
travel destination you are looking for.
